Parish School of Religion

St. Bernadette offers a quality, comprehensive Parish School of Religion Program for Catholic students from first to eighth grade levels.
Our school is comprised of students from the South County area that attend public school.
Classes are held Sunday mornings, 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM
This convenient class times affords our families the opportunity to attend either the 8:00 AM or 10:30 AM Sunday Mass at St. Bernadette
Classes run from September through the end of April
Small student-to-teacher ratio sizes affords in depth quality discussions, as well as personalized attention for each student
The "PSR Family Mass" is the third Sunday of each month at 10:30 AM where the children minister
During St. John Paul II's visit to St. Louis he told the young people,
"Young People, the Catholic Church loves you, wants you and needs you, and I expect great things of you."
"We are proud of the traditions of faith and service that have made this region distinctively Catholic - the Rome of the West - and that sets us apart as people who treasure our Catholic identity and history. . ."
Archbishop Robert J. Carlson and
The Pastoral Letter on handing on the faith
to the young Church
Archbishop Carlson has made a bold commitment to make our schools, parishes and most importantly our youth, "Alive in Christ." He states,
"In short, handing on the faith to the young Church is an essential part of the Church’s evangelizing mission."
We, at St. Bernadette’s take these statements to heart. Archbishop Carlson’s goal is by 2018, every Catholic of the Archdiocese of St. Louis will be “Alive in Christ.” The young PSR students of today ARE the young Church! The foundation being laid today will guide and lead these young Catholic hearts into the Church of the future (the not too distant future).
We realize that education is power with spiritual education as the most powerful form of knowledge.
Our PSR program is both challenging and accepting of all students. We believe that "every child is a gift," and we openly accept the responsibility of guiding these young Catholics into the next generation of spirituality and leadership for themselves, their future parishes, and the future of this Archdiocese of St. Louis.
