Letter from the Pope

New Archbishop for St. Louis

On June 10, 2020 Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Archbishop Carlson and appointed Most Reverend Mitchell Thomas Rozanski the 10th Archbishop-elect of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

We pray in thanksgiving for the many years of faithful ministry of Archbishop Carlson and ask the Lord to bless and strengthen Archbishop-elect Rozanski as he prepares to become the 10th Archbishop of St. Louis.

Dear Father,
I am attaching to this letter the message of His Holiness Pope Francis for Lent. I hope it will inspire both you and your parishioners in your spiritual preparation for the upcoming Lenten season.
I ask you to make the Pope’s letter available to all your parishioners for their prayerful consideration and response.
Lent is a time for reflection and repentance, a time to pray with renewed fervor for ourselves, our families, and the Church. During this holy season let’s also pray for the transformation of the world we live in. Through the grace of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, may we all be agents of the Father’s mercy!
Thank you for all that you do to enrich the lives of your parish family and to encourage them to live lives of faithfulness to Christ and His Church. Know that you are in my prayers. Please keep me in yours.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson
Archbishop of St. Louis
