Knee Report 14

KNEE REPORT #14

Finally I am only a couple of days away from my knee replacement surgery, scheduled for Tuesday of this week.  The infection has stayed away after all the antibiotic treatment.  So after a short time in the hospital, I will return to the parish rectory for recovery and rehab.  After about a month of rehab, I hope to back to church by mid-September.

My gratitude for your prayers is huge.  It is comforting to know that so many people are praying for my successful surgery and recovery to full activity.  St. Bernadette Soubirous, pray for us!  May the Lord continue to be with us!

PRAYERS ALSO FOR FATHER GAN C.S.S.R.

Father Gan, who has helped us out for several weekends, had to go to the hospital for a heart problem, and he is now facing some serious heart surgery.  Fr. Gan is the Vietnamese Redemptorist priest from Liguori whom everyone seemed to like a lot.  We are grateful to Father Steve Benden C.S.S.R., pastor of St. Alphonsus “Rock” Church on North Grand in the city,  who covered for him on short notice last weekend.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY – TODAY!

For her courageous and faith-filled life of grace and holiness, the Blessed Virgin Mary was blessed by God at the moment of her bodily death.  The Lord assumed (raised) her sinless human body straight into eternal life to be body and soul with her Son and share in the fullness of eternal life with the Lord.  This ancient Church belief makes Mary the first one of us to receive this fulfillment of the promise of Jesus to share the life of his Resurrection with those who believe in him and live a life of love of God and neighbor.  On the day of final judgement all of us are counting on our deceased human body being rejoined with our immortal soul and then to share eternal life with Mary and all the saints and our ancestors in the new creation of God.
