KNEE REPORT #13
Just waiting now, as I write this, for the results from the lab test of the fluid in my knee to see if there is any trace of bacterial infection. If the orthopedic surgeon informs me that the fluid is “clean”, then we can go ahead with the big knee replacement surgery on Aug. 17th. So let us pray hard again in the days ahead that this long-awaited surgery can soon get underway.
I am definitely getting tired of sitting around and not being able to do much but read and watch TV. At least the Olympics were a delightful change of pace. Now what I need is for the Cardinals to get on a really hot streak and make the rest of season more exciting than the first part.
Thank you for your prayers and concern for me. I always pray every day for all of you, my St. Bernadette Parish Family!
WILL IT NEVER END? THE CORONAVIRUS – DELTA VARIANT
Just when we thought we were making progress against the scourge of this pandemic, it seems to be attacking us again. Looks like we will just have to counterattack by generally wearing masks again at indoor public places, including our weekend Masses at church. I was encouraged to hear that most everybody was wearing a mask at Mass last weekend. This shows that you have the virtue of prudence and more importantly a love of neighbor and your fellow parishioners. An even more important counterattack against the coronavirus would be for nearly everyone to receive the very effective vaccination against this insidious disease that threatens all of us – our health, our lives, our economy, our employment, and our all-around normal way of living.
KNOW ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN THE CATHOLIC FAITH?
In September our parish will begin the first phase, “The Inquiry Period”, of our annual Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The RCIA is the multi-step process for individuals to look into becoming a full member of the Catholic Church.
Every current member of the parish needs to take a few moments of prayerful reflection to think who they know might be interested in learning a little or a lot more about being a Catholic. When you think of someone or other, talk to them to see if they are at all thinking about looking into the Catholic faith. Let Sister Kathy or myself know if you come up with any possible candidates.
